DAt the Edge of Atmosphere by allesfresser
A semi-surreal constructed image intended to evoke an ethereal/space sort of theme. The clouds were real; the stars are not. (But you probably guessed that already...) Each resolution was hand-tuned to make sure the stars looked OK, so they won't be identical. If you want a version without stars, I can post that as well--just speak up.

1280x960 would be nice for 17" 4/3 screens

Thanks! Unfortunately the art.gnome site only allows certain resolutions, and I've provided all of those (sorry about the duplicated images btw, don't know how that happened...) You can use the 1600x1200 as it's the same aspect ratio of 4:3, and scale it down. Or use 1024x768 and scale it up, but that's not as nice.
