Preview Contains gtk2 and metacity themes, as well as a number of stock icons. The gtkrc file is well documented and laid out so that beginners can understand what everything does. It should be very easy for people to make their own themes by simply replacing or renaming graphics. People are encouraged to modify and redistribute, but please read the headers in the gtkrc and metacity theme files. All graphics used in this theme are original; no images have been ripped from other themes.

The search is over. I found a good theme for my desktop. Unfortunately ubuntustudio does not come with one as good as this.

anything not using your custom chosen theme is because you are running YaST as root, which the theme was not installed as. Move $HOME/.themes to /usr/share/themes, and same with icons

Very nice theme, but in openSUSE 10.3, yast don't get this theme, and stay with old and ugly them.

I like this theme a lot, and I am currently using it. Is there any chance there is this theme in orange instead of blue? I am using Ubuntu Gusty, and I would like to keep orange as the main colour (blue is very win and mac).

Anyway, ty for your theme! :)

Very very neat! Thanks...

Thanks m5brane for the theme. I like it and am using it on my fedora box that has a blue theme.

Except under feisty changed the colours of the components to an orange. Easy enough to do using the colour channel tool in gimp but the lack of colour scheme support in the theme makes the window borders and selected items revert to their default colour. Is there any way to add colour support to this theme so I can customise my theme further. Maybe if you tell me how to do this it would be a great help.

OK, figured it out for Edgy. Under System->Administration->Software Sources I had to make sure everything was checked.

Then ran sudo apt-get update

Then installed gtk2-engines-pixbuf
sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-pixbuf

Rebooted and everything is Mac-y!

This theme worked for me with Dapper. But with Edgy only the window borders at the top appear now. The buttons and scrollbars don't show up.

Doing this: apt-get install gtk2-engine*
I got this message: 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 138 not upgraded.

To get this to work in Edgy, you need to install the GTK2-Engines: apt-get install gtk2-engine*

Worked for me. :)

Nice looking theme. Good work.

Hmmm, this theme used to work great for me in both Ubuntu Breezy (GTK 2.8.6) and Dapper (GTK 2.8.17), but doesn’t seem to work in Edgy (GTK 2.10.6) – the window decorations and icons are there, but the controls revert to the GTK defaults.

Any hints on how can I fix that?

Great theme. Can anyone do a nother one like this, but with the combination of blue and orange?

Blue for the windows and when you open a menu the selection is in orange. Think about it it could be great to have it.

Glossy News!

Okay, no one has to believe this, since it's probably the third time I've said it publicly, but an update to this theme is forthcoming. The maintainer of the gimp port to OSX, which uses the theme, contacted me about getting ahold of the updated theme for his project. It was enough to get me motivated, and I spent a great deal of time over the weekend updating everything. There are a few more tweaks to make here and there, so it might be another week or two, but it's on the way.

It's amazing how many bugs in gtk and metacity have been fixed since the original release, allowing me to remove lots of the hacks and kludges from the theme and do the things I originally wanted to do.

First thing I do after setting up Gnome is to install this theme.
Thank you!

I voted 5, not because I like the design, but because this was the first theme rich and documented enough to use your gtkrc config file as a base for all my themes.
Great work and big thanks !

Still my favourite theme... great!

Greate one! Very clear. Like it.

Posted 6 August 2005 - 01:52

Thanks for the theme. I love it. What's up with the update though ?
If you are stuck working on some big features maybe you should just update us with the bugfixes... just a suggestion.

Great work !

Hi m5brane,

I recreated Glossy P as Evil Mac, using the comments you had in the file to mess around. (It was my first theme.) I may make some additional color variations, unless you are planning to do it yourself.

Thanks for the great theme.

Awesome Aqua theme! Best ever in X, i must say. Good work, m5brane.
It would be really nice if you could write variations on the theme, e.g. release it in various colours. Of course, if you're not too busy compactifying yourself into a Calabi-Yau... :)

Posted 18 June 2005 - 03:55

This is the best Aqua theme I have seen. All the others have scratchy tabs or half-arsed scrollbars, but this seems pretty clean to me.

I\\\'d have the menu backgrounds lighter though, as the grey doesn\\\'t suit the glossy blue.

Hi everyone,

I released this theme a few years ago. I had big plans for a follow-up, but real life stepped in and I never got around to finishing it. But I recently went back and cleaned up a lot of the bugs in Glossy P. I am almost done with an update ("Glossy Progress") that I'll probably release in about a month or so. I fixes lots of small problems and makes the theme all around more compatible with more recent versions of gtk. It also includes a new metacity theme. So, check here in around a month.

Very nice theme, but still somewhat slow.
